个人简介

Steffen undertook his undergraduate studies at the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HKA), where he graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics Engineering specialized on Sensor Systems. During his undergraduate studies he was part of the Study Center for Optofluidics and Nanophotonics (SCON), during which he carried out research work at RMIT University, resulting in his Bachelor thesis on ‘Lamination of Thin films over Air Cavities’. After a period of work as a Research Assistant at HSKA focusing on the processing of high refractive index contrast photonic waveguide structures in laminated polymer thin films, he joined RMIT University, Melbourne Australia, where he undertook his PhD studies on single-resonance Bound States in the Continuum (BICs) in mass-manufacturable Silicon-On-Insulator (SOI) Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs). His work resulted in several first- and co-authored research papers as well as his thesis titled ‘Ridge resonators on unbound and finite lateral claddings: from leaky mode resonators to waveguide couplers with resonator-like responses’.


研究方向

Steffen is currently working at IPC as a Lab Manager engaged in Research. His research interest is focused on PICs on various platforms, 3D nanofabrication of Devices and Systems for Optical Neural Networks as well as co-integration of different neural network architectures into novel systems. He is further working on research translation for 3D nanoprinting technology as well as Characterisation and Packaging systems for integrated photonic devices and systems.
